SUN - 星野源 (Hoshino Gen)

みなさんこんにちは！

今日は日本の歌について書きます。

「SUN」という歌は 2015年5月に出た歌です。歌集 ( かしゅう )の名前は星野源（ほしのげん）で、日本で有名でよく聞かれているらしいです。

「SUN」のかし（lyrics）はとても明るくてきれいと思います。人生が暗い時にも、大変な時にも、歌で話している人のこえ（voice）を聞いたら、明るくなると行っています。下は歌詞の一部（part, not 全部）です。

きみのこえを聞かせて

(Let me hear your voice)

くもをよけ世界てらすような

(that feels as if it will clear the clouds and brightens the world)

きみのこえを聞かせて

(Let me hear your voice)

遠い所も雨の中も

(Even in far places, even under the rain)

すべて思い通り

The lyrics are very positive, which, along with the rhythm and the melody, makes me happy when I listen to this song. It's a great song to play on a sunny day as I walk to class, except that we never had sunny days in the past few days.

I haven't tried listening to other songs by this singer because I tend to repeat the same few songs I really liked until I get sick of them. I will try and explore more songs by 星野源、since he seems like one of the most popular singers in Japan.

The phase of listening to this song on repeat was actually before we started Chapter 9. Now that I've been introduced to the Let Causative grammar, I was able to understand more of the lyrics. For instance, "きみのこえを聞かせて” is a part of the lyrics that repeats a lot, and it uses the Let Causative form we just learned. 

Another part of the lyrics that I didn't include in the post is "何か楽しいことが起きるようなけんそうがはじける”. I wasn't able to understand the second half of this sentence before looking up the translated lyrics, but I picked up the first half which contains another grammar that was recently introduced (〜ような）.

Although I tend to get sick of songs after listening to them non-stop for a few weeks, I think Japanese songs make me revisit them because I want to see how much more of the lyrics I understand compared to the first time I listened to the song. I wonder how much more I will be able to understand the next time I listen to SUN.
