はじめてのおつかい

 

「はじめてのおつかい」は日本のテレビプログラムです。小さい子供がはじめてお使い（errand )に行くのないようのリアリティーショーです。両親は子供がはじめて一人でお使いに行くので心配しますが、子供はお使いを上手にします。

このエピソードではひろきくんがお使いに行かせられました。ひろきくんはまだ２さい９か月です。お母さんが作ってくれた「とまれ」と書いているフラグを持って、ひろきくんは出かけます。車が来たら、フラグを使って安全にお使いに行けるです。

ひろきくんは道で歩きながらパトカー（police car）とバスを見ます。スーパーでひろきくんが買う物は花、カレー、そして某天です。カレーを忘れてしまったけど、覚えた後でスーパーに帰って花も買います。花がひろきくんには長すぎたから本当にかわいかったです。

家まで帰った後で、ひろきくんお母さんにほめられました。私が２さいの時には母が私が一人でお使いに行かせなかったと思います。ひろきくんはすごくいい子供だと思います。

Watching this episode, I was able to understand quite a bit without reading the English subtitles. 

For instance, when the mother was giving instructions to Hiroki, she told him "車が来たら、” which I was able to understand that he is supposed to hold the flag up when a car approaches.

The sentence, "三つも覚えられるかなあ” was also familiar, as it used ~も which we learned this semester, and also the potential form in casual speech that we have been practicing in class. 

"カレーじゃなさそうです” also reminded me of the 〜そう・なさそう form that we learned a while ago. The variation in the negative form never seemed to get familiar, but listening to the form being used in actual Japanese narration in a very natural way helped me remember the grammar rule better.

Now that I am watching it the second time to write this post, I find it easier to understand without using subtitles. Also, some parts of the episode show Japanese subtitles, and you can also turn on Japanese subtitles on Netflix. This helped me learn from watching the material.

Also, this is the cutest TV show I have ever seen so far. There are many episodes on Netflix, and the English title of the show is "Old Enough!". I tried not to make two consecutive Listening posts, but I couldn't help it. Everyone should watch this (it's on Netflix). It will make your day.
